Inspire, Inspire Creative Project

Hello Creative Friend – You’re invited to join the Inspire, Inspire Art Journal Project – 2012!

What is the Inspire, Inspire Project?

This is basically a project that uses idea generators (or prompts) to open the mind and encourage creative expression of anything one wants to – using patterns that flow out of the end of their pen at the time of creation.  It’s a journaling project that’s purpose is to make the artist stop and think, ponder, and dream about a wide variety of things. And then to pick up your pen and sketch pad and express your thoughts through repetitive pattern art.

To get the drawing started, I toss out a creative idea prompter – something to get the mind wandering/wondering and to coax your muse into action.  When thinking about these prompted ideas you might wind up looking deep into your heart and soul and then begin working fully engaged and rather feverishly on very mindful page projects. However, sometimes you may find yourself just fluttering around with a loose idea.   For me there are days when my final project reveals all those things that were floating around in my head. More often though my thoughts are “hidden” in the creative project and I’m the only one that knows what’s really going on, on the page.

========================================

To sum it up in a neat little packaged statement:
The Inspire, Inspire Project is an
ongoing creative festival of the mind, spirit,
and the hands in repetitive motion

========================================

How Often, How Many, How to Create?

Sometimes the prompts may come just one day after the previous one. Sometimes there may be several days in between. These prompts may present you with an idea in a very timely manner, but there will possibly be times when the creative prompt just doesn’t really jump-start anything for you. There may even be prompts that take you down a completely different road than expected.  I may say flower and your muse pushes you toward….. trucks?  That’s perfectly okay!

I don’t number my prompts, date them, nor keep track of them using any type of specific method. They are generated as the earth moves under my feet and in the spur of the moment without any planning. Each prompt stands on it’s own.

There’s no such thing as “jumping in late” or “falling behind” on this journaling project.

So you can use the Inspire, Inspire Journal Project in whatever way works best for you. Create as often as you want and on however many pages you want at a time. Use the prompts for fun, for personal introspection, for creative juice, or just to give yourself a giggle once in a while if that’s what suites you best.

Who’s the Project for?

Anyone who enjoys repeat pattern art. Anyone who wants to try repeat pattern art. Anyone who’s interested in Creative Art Journaling…. and especially for those who want to do a creative journal that’s…. well….. less messy. No extra chunky elements, painting, or pasting necessary.  Simply paper and pen and maybe some coloring pencils or markers if you feel like it.  The creative tools are minimal, easily transportable, and hardly any set-up or clean-up time required.

How to Get Involved?

It’s easy to participate. Simply grab a blank-page type journal or just some loose-leaf paper if you prefer. Also get your hands on your favorite drawing pens, pencils, or markers. Visit my blog and/or Lineweaving.com forums often throughout the year. Because I’ll be posting the creative prompts in both places. Better yet – sign up for email notifications from here and from inside the community too! That way you’re sure to never miss a prompt whether I sent it the next day or the week after the last.

As the Year Moves Forward…

One of the things that I find especially enjoyable about creative journaling is revisiting the pages to reminisce again or simply look back at what I created from earlier in the year. Sometimes seeing something new on the revisit. You may find the same thing turning into a habit after a while too. I encourage you to keep your Inspire, Inspire project pages together in a journal or maybe in a box or folder. That way they will continue to provide you with pleasure throughout the year and maybe in forward years to come as well.

  2. When is your book, Using your Crativity For Chronic Pain Therapy coming out? As one, who loves to doodle and play with mixed media, while having to live with chronic pain, I am interested in exploring this book. I enjoy watching your videos and have learned much from you. Just let me know, if it is now in publication, where I can find it or when to expect it, please. Keep up your wonderful tutorials, for I am working my way through all of them. Thank you for sharing your talents with the internet world!

    • Hi Cheryl, Thank you for your interest in my web blog. My book is indeed still in the works, however I must admit that it was put on the back burner last year when I was having a bit of health problems. I’m back at it again though. It may come out this year, but to be honest with you I’m not pushing myself too hard on it. I’m letting it come about as my muse moves me in that direction. I’m tickled to learn that you are enjoying the offerings here at the Rainbow Elephant. Continue to grow and create! ~Cindy

      • Hi Cindy,
        Thank you for your response about your book publication. I do hope you will take your time on this huge project of publishing your book, for your health is the most important thing. It is no fun to live with chronic pain, and it is even more exasperating having more pain come on because we overdo! Those of us who live with debilitating chronic pain have learned patience, as you well know. I will wait patiently for your book to come to fruition and in the meantime, I will continue to enjoy watching your videos and your gift of the free e-books. By the way, thank you very much for these free gifts. Once, I whittle down my medical expenses, I look forward to purchasing your other books.

        You stay well and hopefully those dreaded migraines will keep to a minimum. I appreciate all you do, especially in light of what you live with on a daily basis.

        Sincerely,
        Cheryl

  6. Cindy,
    this is all going over my head. I don’t know know what you want don’t understand what I have to do . Could you explain it in simple terms for me ? and what is a prompt ? I uploaded some photos’ on flicker explaining where I got the idea from because I thought thats’ what you wanted now I’m not so sure this just might be too deep for me but, I don’t want to give up that would be defeating my purpose.

    • Hi Miss Barbara,
      I vivit your Flickr album from time to time and I always enjoy seeing the new pages you’ve created! In answer to your questions about our Inspire, Inspire art-journal project here is some clrifying ststements that I hope will help.

      – Art journals are accomplished in many different ways. Sometimes they are based on specific themes. Sometimes they are based on specific art mediums, etc. The Inspire, Inspire Art-Journal project is based on using the specific art style of Repeat Pattern Art.

      – A prompt is a suggested idea or theme for you to work with when creating your journal page. I post a new prompt periodically to give project participants an idea to think about and then to work thru in their journals. For example if the prompt I post was “blue” then think on that word for a while and see what comes to mind. Maybe your thoughts would go to thinking about a favorite blue dress you had a few years back. Blue might remind you of a bird; or the colors in the ocean; or even a song about blue suade shoes. What the prompt brings to mind for you will be different than what it brings to mind for anyone else.

      – After thinking about the prompt for a little while, go to your journal and express yourself creatively by using repetitive pattern designs in drawings that have something to do with the thoughts generated from the prompt.

      – When adding photos to the Flickr group – add the ones of your journal pages that you made when working specifically with the prompts I have posted for the Inspire, Inspire project. That way we can all see how we each interpreted the prompt.

      – To learn about each new prompt you can follow my blog postings and/or read about the newest promts inside our LineWeaving community forums. I have also been trying to keep a running list of the prompts posted in the discussion area of our Flickr group.
