Sharing New Pattern Meydum

Earlier in the week I promised more patterns would come your way.  So here’s another one for you to play with.  I call it Meydum.  Right-click and then save the below worksheet and have fun with it!

Mandala Fun

Anyone who’s been around my art studio during the last few years knows that I have more mandala’s than I know what to do with.  I just love to try using patterns in a circular shape.  So this go around I did a little vintage looking mandala using Meydum around the outer edge.  If you look closely you can also see Mirrky and InWave (right in the very center).

Weaving the Meydum Pattern Lines

Here’s a little sampler I did of my Meydum pattern in neon colors.  Try this creative exercise:  Draw a string on your page, crossing the line over itself at least once, maybe twice.  Then draw the circular part of the Meydum pattern along the string.  Go back and add the pointed shape in-between each circle to complete the pattern – but when you come to a crossing or when the pattern gets close to another shape you’ve already drawn – put your lines behind that shape so the pattern looks like it’s crossing over itself.  Does that make sense?  I didn’t add any shading on my sampler here, but if you do add shading it makes even even more fun!
